It all began with Nicholas Paspaley Sr.’s  vision in 1935. Having witnessed the success of the Japanese in culturing Akoya pearls in Japan, he dreamt of using the giant Pinctada Maxima oyster to culture Australian South Sea pearls–of a quality and beauty to match the natural pearls that by then were virtually extinct. This was the beginning of a journey that would take the Paspaley name to the top of the pearling industry.

After more than 75 years of unwavering focus on quality, Paspaley reached the unheard of place in the world of cultured pearls–that is to rival the magnificence of the finest natural pearls.

On natural pearls, Nicholas Paspaley Jr., the chairman today of Paspaley has this to say,

nick paspaley_hires

Reminding us of our roots, in recent years natural pearls have once again risen in value in an  extraordinary  manner. Connoisseurs of all things rare and   beautiful   once   more   compete   to  acquire natural pearls through  international auction  houses.  My  father would have been delighted if he was with us today, to witness  the  world  coming  full circle to once more celebrate the rarity of natural pearls, as they did in his day.”

This comment is  most  surprising  coming  from someone whose family has figured significantly in the development of cultured pearls. But perhaps because the world really has come full circle. Not just that rare natural pearls are again celebrated, but after many long years, Paspaley Australian South Sea pearls  can now– proudly  hold  its own–alongside them. That finally, Mr. Paspaley  Sr.’s  dream  has  finally come true: His very own pearls have become a match to natural pearls.

Folks, this the World of Paspaley. . .
